CorSport: Romero wants move away from Italy in event of January exit

By Oliver Fisher -

Luka Romero has struggled for playing time since his arrival at AC Milan over the summer, and there is the possibility of a loan move being agreed in January.

Romero arrived at Milan in July on a free transfer from Lazio after his two-year deal there expired, but the Argentine hasn’t found much playing time yet and appears to be the third choice right winger.

At 19 years of age that is not an ideal situation for a player who needs to play regularly in order to grow, and according to what Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) are reporting this morning, a January exit cannot be ruled out.

They claim that there are many Serie A clubs on Romero’s trail and who have asked Milan for information regarding a possible loan, but for the moment there are no concrete negotiations underway.

The paper mentions another important detail though: if he were to leave on loan, Romero would prefer to return to Spain where he has already played with Mallorca, rather than staying in Italy.

Romero did get a start in the Coppa Italia win over Cagliari on Tuesday night but – as we pointed out in our five things piece – he probably suffered a bit from playing a central role and with very little match rhythm.

One thing worth noting is that if he was behind Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze in the right wing hierarchies before, the latter’s departure for the African Cup of Nations might make Milan reflect, even if Sky recently suggested the management could sign a winger.

  1. I’m not even sure why Furlani / Moncada decided to get this kid when they brought Pulisic and Chuk.

Heck, Alexis is 100 times more useful than this kid but the management sent him away. Now they gonna do the same him on loan too lol.

  2. This may sound weird,
But with my understanding of football, I can tell you what this kid needs is proper management, confidence and trust from Pioli.

This kid can play football, I dare to say, He is better than Chukueze, head to head, on the right wing, he has more understanding of the game than Chukueze who always looses the ball, but Chukueze has been imposed on Pioli because they want to justify his transfer fee. But, there’s nothing left for Chukueze to prove, this has been his game for years, he never own a game, just maybe two or three actions and dribbles or goals in a match, and we all in a frenzy, but in the totality of the match he’s a disaster.

Play Romero on the RW for three consecutive matches and watch him own that spot.

Play Pulisic centrally behind the striker, and play RLC deeper in the midfield where he can display all his physical abilities.

However, if we send Romero out on loan, not a bad idea, just sign Jordan Sancho on loan too to fill the gap.
