CorSport: Romero completes ‘dream’ Milan move after eight-year scouting mission

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan added their third signing of the summer yesterday as Luka Romero joined on a free transfer after leaving Lazio, penning a four-year contract.

This morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) recalls how Romero underwent his medical examinations at La Madonnina clinic yesterday and then had hit fitness test at Centro Ambrosiano.

In the afternoon he arrived at Casa Milan and signed a contract until June 2027, thus making him the third acquisition of the summer after Marco Sportiello and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Romero spent the last two season with Lazio where he made 21 appearances and scored one goal in Serie A, and he has chosen the shirt number 18. On Monday he will be at Milanello for the start of preseason.

It will then be up to Stefano Pioli to decide his future after the summer at Milanello and the tour of the United States of America in which friendlies against Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona will be played.

The paper states that Romero has been followed by Milan’s scouts since his arrival in the youth sector of the Spanish club Real Mallorca, which was back in 2015 so eight years ago.

In his first interview, the key comments were: “It’s a dream for me to be here, this is a club with a lot of history. I hope to do really well at Milan. I’ve always wanted to play at San Siro. I also spoke to Alessio Romagnoli before arriving here.”
