CorSport: Samardzic tells Udinese he wants Milan – why talks are proceeding patiently

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are keeping dialogue open with Udinese about Lazar Samardzic but they are currently in no rush to close the deal, a report claims.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), the Milan management consider Samardzic to be a very useful potential addition to the midfield department, a more creative presence who can play either as a mezzala or as a playmaker.

However, we are not talking about a negotiation that can be finalised in the next few days because there are several details to be resolved, but the pursuit is ‘more alive than ever, concrete and possible’.

This confidence is above all because of the fact that the player wants the move: he made it clear in the meeting that took place with his father-agent and Milan, and he also made it explicit to Udinese, without doing anything that might cause a rift with a club he feels very attached to.

For their part, however, Udinese have reiterated that they have no need to sell Samardzic, even if things could change in the face of an offer that fully satisfies the demands of the Friulian club, which is €25m.

They do not seem willing to accept counterparts, so Milan’s strategy at the moment is to see if their demands lessen during the final month of the mercato.

  1. “He just want Milan” isn’t guarantee. The case of JZ didnt teach a lesson for our management. It is not I am upset we missed JZ, no, not at all. But management can’t take player’s word for granted and thinking that they are in better position because of that. If they really want him, puruse it. If not, lets just move over and focus on other more urgent department, such as DM, in case those management forgot *palm face*

    1. To be fair I think they scout and potentially buys players on parametres of current level/potential max level/bottom level performances, outcome compared to fees and salaries involved. By having several players scouted for same positions that are within certain parametres it doesnt really matter that much if they buy this or that player and I suspect most clubs has several hundreds players scouted and wishlisted all the time.
It would at least make sense to me with such approach and especially if clubs doesn’t have infinite amounts of cash to spend.

    2. That’s because “only wants X” stories are nearly always complete rubbish. If there’s any truth at all, it just means it’s the best offer they have so far.

    1. Cherki of Lyon? I see him more of a wide forward, is he also gifted as no.10

Also is he a troublemaker (might be bogus reporting) but I heard he’s not so committed to training…

  2. For this guy… I don’t really care if he sign or not, he is not priority in my opinion. If he sign then good, if not, it’s okay.

    1. Yeah stacking b2b midfield isn’t good without selling infamous midfield atm. If they sign DM, then we’ll give four thumbs to ’em.
