CorSport: The numbers show Milan score more and win more with Calhanoglu on the field

The stats show that Hakan Calhanoglu is not only fundamental to the way that AC Milan play, but also the outcome of games too it seems.

A number of different sources are reporting that Calhanoglu will be back in the starting line-up for tonight’s game against Napoli at San Siro, which is a welcome bit of good news for Pioli who has had to do without his number 10 a fair bit over the past few weeks and months.

As il Corriere dello Sport reports (via MilanLive), Milan score more and win more with Calhanoglu on the pitch. With the Turkey international in the XI, Milan have a 67% win rate this season, and without him it drops to 60%.

Milan have an average of 1.4 goals per game if you count the games in which Calhanoglu did not take the field, but the average with him in the team is exactly 2 goals per game.

So far Calhanoglu has missed eight games in 2020-21 due to muscle injuries and being Covid-positive, and the fact he has already amassed 11 assists this season so far shows how effective he is. He also has six official goals scored, four of which in the qualifying rounds of the Europa League. His only league goal is the penalty against Lazio on 23 December.
