AS Roma are considering asking AC Milan to allow Alexis Saelemaekers to remain in the capital, and to do so, they could include former Rossonero Bryan Cristante.
The two clubs were last involved in business at the end of the summer mercato, when Tammy Abraham arrived at Milan with Saelemaekers heading the other way, with both deals being loans. Already there have been talks about the future for both players, but the Roman side are certainly more interested in keeping the winger than the Rossoneri keeping Abraham.
To keep some security in the deal, the Diavolo extended Saelemaekers’ deal until 2027 before he left on loan, primarily to increase his value, but also as a sign of faith in case there was a place for him when he returned from loan.
With interest in keeping Abraham debatable, a straight swap there, or a swap involving him is less possible. However, there could be other avenues explored, and there have already been suggestions that Milan could look at Cristante with an agent proposing the idea.
In addition to this, the Giallorossi are considering offering Cristante in a deal for Saelemaekers, according to Tuttosport (via Milan News). It is believed that the inclusion of the midfielder could be ‘the right move to retain’ the winger.
Despite not being a ‘RedBird player’, the midfielder could be a vital addition, and given he helps the squad list – even as an academy player – it could unlock a few things for the club.
Get this done. We had no patience with him years ago. He’s exactly what we need in the center of the park.
There’s no way u say that. Cristante who’s out of favour is a below average roma side and u want him at milan. Come on
Pellegrino and Cristante are great options for depth. They won’t necessarily be starters but they are just what we need in midfield.
Give them Okafor, Abraham, Calabria and try getting Alexis with this duo, whatever +10-15M would have to be added is still worth.
Shouldn’t u think we should go for someone like frendrup instead of cristatne tho. I’ve seen cristante play but he’s not good on any particular section in my opinion
He’s not amazing but at some point we have to consider uefa squad restrictions, whether we’re in UCL or Europa.
Cristante is an academy player, wouldn’t expect to be a starter, and is actually comfortable playing as no.6 compared to most midfielders in our squad that we force into that DM role.
If he’s cheap, seems a good signing for depth.
he can also play CB
Always liked cristante. If there is a deal to be made here do it.
Homegrown and a DM, just the right amount of experience.
Triple check.
He is injured tho so in the summer, no sense getting someone who won’t be fit till late February.
I mean Pobega is also doing well playing in two pivot formation. Adli is doing good playing a deep lying playmaker. It’s just us who make players look lame.
What did Salad ever do to be shunned like this? Bro deserved to be a part of this team. He was a Scudetto champion. He is on low wages. He is fairly young. Without this guy (and Brahim) our team has lost all of its ability to press effectively. Morata is trying to do all the work for the entire front 4 now and its awful to watch. I wish we had him and MY BOY CDK over Chuk and Okafor.
If he deserved it he would’ve been here. Do you even know he asked to be loaned out? He and pioli were not on good conditions that’s why he left.
Hallelujah imao
They should take Cristante if he’s available. Good squad player. Slow but intelligent and determined. His direct football will be good for a team that doesn’t know going forward!. Pellegrini tho is overrated.
Sure why not.
It won’t make up for the last 10 years where we’ve signed about 20 players looking for a player just like Cristante, but better late than never.
Maybe we can re-sign all of our youth players once they turn 30. Then they’ll be ‘ready’.
Also ironic that one of the only youth players to ‘make it’ in the last 10 years is not considered too old at 27.
