Cuomo says Milan lacked ‘now or never’ mentality in the summer: “It’s inexplicable”

Michael Cuomo has stated that Milan lacked the crucial ‘now or never’ approach in the summer, failing to aim high when that’s exactly what they should have done.

The first half of the season, or nearly anyway, has been very positive for Milan with 32 points collected after 15 games played. However, it’s clear that things could have been a lot better if Massimiliano Allegri had more depth.

The manager has indeed suffered with his selection at times, forced into makeshift solutions and often without any proper options on the bench. As such, everyone is hoping that reinforcements will be made next month, and Niclas Fullkrug will be the first.

Harsh but necessary verdict

When asked about the summer window in his interview with MilanNews, the Telelombardia journalist Michael Cuomo stated that Milan lacked a ‘now or never’ mentality. In other words, with the arrival of Allegri, they should have focused more on players who were ready.

“De Winter is a mystery, especially because you sold a €40m player and bought a €20m one without even negotiating. Then, the money spent on Odogu and Athekame is inexplicable. They weren’t the signings you should have made this summer.

“Milan certainly didn’t give off a now or never impression. Napoli, under Conte, used the transfer market for Conte to win immediately… Allegri also wants to win immediately, but Conte was given what he wanted (Lukaku, McTominay and so on, because otherwise he’ll be in for a fight.

“Allegri is much less explosive; he hasn’t yet raised his voice about what they have given him,” the journalist concluded.

  1. Fans are going to get the shock of their lives next summer.
80 to 100m needs to be found to make up for CL money.
Last summer Tiji was sold immediately to give our books a 5m profit.
So expect immediate and important sales in summer.

Most likely Leao or Pulisic, probably Leao

  2. Conte has never done well in CL ball. At some point in those competitions when you face offensive powerhouses his style of play doesn’t work enough.

  3. Conte is smart why? i like Seria A and dont care about champions league. CL is only for money and Seria A is everything.
I would like take seria A and about Cl dont care.
