CM: Curva Sud and Fiorentina angry as Milan must resolve away ticket situation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been left with a problem to solve ahead of Sunday’s game against Fiorentina due to the sale of tickets for the away sector.

According to Calciomercato.com there is a frantic rush to try and solve the issue that has developed in the third tier of the Verde (green) section  of San Siro. There is risk is that in that area of the stadium the fans of both teams – notoriously not friends – will be mixed.

Rossoneri fans have bought the tickets usually dedicated to the guest supporters, given that the Observatory had cataloged the match as one without restrictions and the rest of the stadium has sold out.

Joe Barone, the Fiorentina CEO, spoke yesterday: “On Wednesday evening I spoke with Paolo Scaroni, I told him that I am very angry about this situation. We have not been respected. Milan is aware that we are very angry for this situation, let’s see if there will be more openings between now and Sunday.”

About 500 Fiorentina fans without tickets are ready to leave in the direction of Milano and there are currently operational meetings taking place at club and institution level – with the participation of the Police Headquarters and the Ministry of the Interior – to resolve the issue.

Milan claim to have followed the rules for the sale of tickets and the current solution seems likely to be a split of the Terzo Anello Verde with the Rossoneri fans on one side and Viola fans on the other.

The Curva Sud together with the Milan Club Association sided with Fiorentina: “The management of the sales of the guest sector for Milan-Fiorentina is only the latest in a series of episodes that this season have seen stadiums where guest tickets have been sold / bought by home fans.

“We therefore ask AC Milan, which has always been attentive and sensitive to the legitimate needs of the fans, to act as spokespersons for all the clubs for away matches, bringing the question to the observatory table and at the same time finding an immediate solution to remedy this unpleasant situation in view of Sunday, because we want to say it clearly and firmly: for us the guest sector is sacred and it is fundamental in every Stadium.

“For us it is unthinkable not to have a sector from which to support our AC Milan away. A stadium without the guest sector, without rival supporters or without us as hosted supporters, is the furthest and most inconceivable thing from our idea of stadium and football.”
