Former AC Milan defender Dario Simic has revealed that he spoke with the management about the possibility of his son Roko Simic joining the Rossoneri.
Calciomercato.com reported last October that the 18-year-old is a player that has been followed by Milan for some time and – having been born in the city – the striker confirmed he would like to return to play for Milan, stating: “Milan with Dinamo Zagreb are my greatest love. I dream of wearing the Rossoneri shirt.”
Dario Simic gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport and was asked about his son Roko, who currently plays for Milan’s Champions League group stage opponents Red Bull Salzburg whom he joined in the summer of 2021.
“Was he close to joining Milan? We talked about it but in the end he went elsewhere. Roko was born in 2003 and the Red Bull group wanted him to play for Salzburg,” he said (via MilanNews).
“Who does he resemble? If I had to say, he’s a bit like Mandzukic in his desire to play, in the way he helps the team. For sure, I can no longer play against my sons!”
Simic was sent out on loan to Salzburg’s sister club FC Liefering for the 2021-22 season to gain experience in the 2. Liga of Austria, netting 19 goals and adding 3 assists in 24 appearances.
The 19-year-old has already made his debut in the Champions League, and he scored 7 goals and added 3 assists in the Youth League last season for them.
He might be a great potential. But in this current circumstance, what we need is a certainty, not another potency.
