DAZN: Milan and Inter to meet agent of Spanish defender after Atletico Madrid exit

By Oliver Fisher -

The agent of Mario Hermoso is in Italy and he will meet with both AC Milan and Inter over a potential free transfer, according to one journalist.

Milan have secured the signing of Strahinja Pavlovic from Red Bull Salzburg for the centre-back role, but there may well be a desire to bolster the depth further given the difficulties in keeping goals out last season, with 69 conceded across all competitions.

According to Orazio Accomando of DAZN, Hermoso’s entourage are in Milano and there are meetings scheduled with both the Rossoneri management and their counterparts at the Nerazzurri.

Not only that, but he adds that contacts ‘have been open for some time’ with the Milanese clubs and that today ‘could be an important day’ in finding out whether we will see the Spaniard move to Serie A.

Hermoso can play centre-back or as a left-back, which means his versatility could be very useful given that Pavlovic and Theo Hernandez are the only left-footed defenders in the squad at present.

Having come through the academy at Real Madrid, Hermoso made his LaLiga debut with Espanyol and then moved to Real’s city rivals Atletico. For Los Rojiblancos he played 174 games over five seasons and won the 2020–21 title.

  1. how many defenders do we need? we already at 10

Adli + Pobega upgrades and an actual striker should be key targets not some random defenders

  2. Hermoso would be a good pick up for Milan. He can rotate with Pavlovic at LCB and he can give Theo a breather at LB.
But one of Kalulu or Thiaw will have to go. Or maybe both.

    1. Probably Thiaw, since he would bring in the most to replenish the coffers and since Kalulu can play RB as well, bringing flexibility. I actually rather it be Tomori, as Thiaw still offers some room for improvement.

  3. Would be nice….. but no squad space for him at the moment – If Kalulu, Thiaw or Tomori are sold, then good signing, but just not an option at the moment.

  4. Hermoso would be a better backup to Theo then Terracciano, and can also play CB and compete for a spot with Pavlovic for that LCB position.

But if they sign him, Terracciano and one of Kalulu/Gabbia/Thiaw would be surplus?

    1. Terraciano isn’t the backup to Theo. Jimenez is supposed to be.

CB’s need competition for starting spots to keep their levels up. Pavlo, Tomori, Thiaw, Gabbia all need to work hard.

  5. Although this isn’t very needed it would be a great signing, firstly, you get them for free, secondly he’s a very good defender with lots of champions league experience, and kalulu is very injury prone (i think we should sell kalulu) and he’s left footed which is nice and he can play left back as a back up for Theo Hernandez which we have been searching for

  6. Apparently when they said the defence needed improvement they thought it was the backline. Couldn’t be further from the truth
