De Zerbi confirms desire to ‘stay at Brighton’ despite vacant Milan job

By Isak Möller -

Milan are looking for a manager and Roberto De Zerbi has been named as an option, with a Brighton exit possible at the end of the season. However, despite being a Milanista, the manager has no intention of leaving the club.

De Zerbi has been linked with the Milan job in recent weeks as Brighton have struggled in the second half of the current season. Since the start of January, they have won just three games in the league and his tenure appears to be coming to an end.

However, speaking to Sky Italia last night (see video below), the Italian manager made it clear that he wants to stay at the club. He’s happy there and, as he put it, there isn’t a club in the world that can poach him when that is the case.

“I would like to stay at Brighton because I love my players, the city, the club and the fans. I said it in the meeting with the fans: if I’m happy, there isn’t any club that can sign me,” he stated.

It remains to be seen if De Zerbi will stay at the club beyond this season, as the management will surely have their say too. In any case, Milan are also interested in Porto’s Sergio Conceicao who looks set to leave the Portuguese side.
