After a disappointing season and considerable turmoil, Milan has hired Igli Tare as their new sporting director as part of a comprehensive “rebuild” at the club.
But the club isn’t stopping here as they’re looking to bring in multiple players, starting with the recent Modric move. Although there has only been a verbal agreement, the veteran midfield general is set to join the Milan side and bring valuable experience.

Yes, experience is essential, and in a way, Milan’s golden years were marked with seasoned veterans, but there’s always a need for that explosive young talent. More specifically, the team aims to strengthen its back line with some fresh legs, both physically and in terms of the versatility required for the modern game of football. However, the team’s local rivals, Inter, seem to be targeting the same players.
Christian Mosquera, Valencia
Both Milan and Inter have been linked to Mosquera, with multiple reports indicating that clubs have inquired about his availability. The 21-year-old defender has repeated several times that he doesn’t plan on extending his contract with the club. However, despite all the talk, the first team to try out its luck was Arsenal, with a €14m proposal.
Mosquera also stated that he wants to move to the Gunners, but Valencia has a say in the matter, and the club has rejected the initial offer. There’s still time for Milan and Inter to make an offer, but it would have to be a better one. Yes, Mosquera seems to be keen on playing on the island, and if Arsenal don’t make the right offer, he could end up in Milan. The only question is, at which club?
Giovanni Leoni, Parma
Just a month back, Inter were strongly linked with Mosquera, and it’s no wonder that both Milan teams are now interested in Giovanni Leoni. Perma’s 18-year-old defender is dubbed the “new Nesta” and is attracting interest from clubs. Reports say that Inter is preparing a €30m bid to beat Milan’s offer for the defender.
There hasn’t been a formal bid, and all of this might be mind games. Parma’s management has said they’re willing to let the defender go for €25m, and offering more than is required simply doesn’t make sense. On the other hand, according to news sources, Milan is reportedly preparing an offer of around €13m, along with the striker Lorenzo Colombo.
Milan and Inter have similar scouting goals, and both Allegri and Chivu believe in nurturing young talent. Milan is eager to find a promising young Italian player, but they’re also considering exciting options such as Marc Pubill from Almeria, Andreas Christensen from Barcelona, and Diego Carlos from Aston Villa. It’ll be an exciting transfer window, and we can’t wait to see what Rossoneri will look like at the start of the season.
