France boss Didier Deschamps has confirmed that Mike Maignan’s return to action is close and he could start tomorrow night against Greece.
Maignan struggled with a calf injury in the middle of the 2022-23 season and it saw him miss a few months despite the initial diagnosis suggesting that it would be a few weeks of absence.
Fortunately Maignan made it back in to help Milan in the Champions League and their run to the semi-final, but there were some concerns when it was confirmed that he would miss France’s game against Gibraltar.
However, it was not the same calf that Maignan struggled with and the initial tests came back negative, meaning he hasn’t torn it or done severe damage.
France are back in action tomorrow night at 20:45 CEST against Greece in the Nations League and Deschamps was asked about whether Maignan will be between the sticks during an interview with Telefoot.
“It is planned. All players are available for tomorrow I’m spoiled for choice,” he said (via BreakingLatest).
