AC Milan defender Sergino Dest has conceded that Lecce started the game last night with ‘more hunger’, and also discussed his role in the side.
In the end Milan were made to settle for a 2-2 draw against Lecce at the Stadio Via del Mare but it could have been much worse given the home side went 2-0 up inside the opening half an hour through an own-goal and a header from Baschirotto.
The Rossoneri showed good spirit in the second half to get the game back level with Rafael Leao halving the deficit through a curling shot from a narrow angle and then a Davide Calabria header from close range levelled it, but neither side could find a winner.
Interviewed by Milan TV after the draw with Lecce, Dest – who came on at half-time for Theo Hernandez – commented on the performance.
“We wanted the three points. They started off better than us, with more hunger, in the second half we managed to equalise,” he said (via MilanNews).
Dest came on at left-back after Theo did not have a good opening 45 minutes.
On his role, the American said: “I play where the coach asks me. Right or left makes no difference to me. I always try to do my best for the team.”
On the Supercoppa: “It’s a trophy we can win. Inter are a complicated opponent, they want to win as much as we do, but we have to start immediately concentrated and only in this way can we win.”
This is what I don’t get – how you can not have as much hunger as crappy Lecce when we needed to win to keep in title race.
