Dest reflects on time at Milan: “When I played, I don’t think it did any harm!”

Sergino Dest has reflected on his time at AC Milan last season, claiming that he didn’t do any harm when he was called upon by head coach Stefano Pioli.

Dest joined Milan on a season-long loan from Barcelona and he made 14 appearances without getting a goal or an assist, drawing a lot of criticism for his performances both as a right-back and a left-back.

He returned to Barca at the end of the season but didn’t stay there for long in the end, instead joining PSV Eindhoven where under Peter Bosz they have won every league game this season and qualified for the Champions League knockout stages behind Arsenal.

The American full-back gave an exclusive interview to Gianluca Di Marzio to reflect on his time at Milan, admitting that there were some difficult moments and also stating that he does not keep up with how his former team-mates are getting on now.

“It’s a wonderful feeling to be back on the pitch and have more space. Obviously I went through difficult moments at Milan, but I’m happy to be at a great club like PSV and to be able to play,” he said.

“The Eredivisie may not be Serie A or La Liga which are two great league but I took one step back to take two steps forward.

“Milan? I’m not angry, I have nothing against Pioli. These things happen. But when I played, I don’t think it did any harm! Then of course I too have some faults, which I take on, as does he. But they are things that remain inside.

“I currently don’t follow the Rossoneri’s matches. Milan is the past, I’m only focused on PSV.”
