Di Marzio: Ballo-Toure ‘very close’ to joining Fulham following Milan exclusion

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are not just working in signings but also on the sales of players no longer deemed a part of the plans, and Fode Ballo-Toure is set to depart.

Ballo-Touré has not been called up by Stefano Pioli for the tour in the United States so did not leave with the team this morning, while he was also excluded from yesterday’s preseason game against Lumezzane too.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio on Twitter, Ballo-Toure is ‘very close’ to joining Premier League side Fulham. The Senegalese full-back is leaving as he is no longer part of Pioli’s plans, with a new deputy to Theo Hernandez being sought.

In recent weeks the former Lille and Monaco man has also been linked with a move that would keep him in Serie A, namely a loan to Bologna. Meanwhile, OGC Nice emerged as a possible destination too and a chance for him to return to France.

However, it seems that a new experience in England awaits for Ballo-Toure, while we must wait to see what the terms of the deal are.

  1. Seems a bit of a weird decision to me, we’re going to have to find someone cheaper, better and willing to be a complete backup for one of the world’s best.

And if he goes to Fulham he’s just going to be in the same backup position behind Robinson.

    1. Calafiori is my best guess. An under the radar signing and to bring another Italian in. Good luck to Ballo-Toure.
