Incoming manager Ralf Rangnick has asked AC Milan to sign centre-back Dayot Upamecano from former club RB Leipzig, it is claimed.
Upamecano has been repeatedly linked with a move to Milan over the last few months as the Rossoneri look to give Alessio Romagnoli a reliable long-term partner.
Tuttosport however recently reported that Arsenal are ahead of Milan in the race to sign the Frenchman, who will be sold this summer unless Leipzig can somehow agree a renewal on his deal which expires in 2021.
According to what journalist Gianluca Di Marzio (via @acmilangoleador on Twitter) has told Sky Italia, Milan have reignited their interest in Upamecano as Rangnick wants him to help form a new core at Milan.
A number of different outlets have reported that the 21-year-old has a release clause of €60m on his deal which expires next year, meaning the Bundesliga side must either sell this summer to avoid losing him for free or agree a renewal.
Rangnick ya está preparando el mercado de fichajes del Milan. El alemán está siguiendo a Dayot Upamecano, Milot Rashica y Patrick Schick.
