Di Marzio: Empoli make late swoop for Vasquez – what awaits the goalkeeper

By Ben Dixon -

Whilst the mercato is a time for immediate incomings, there also must be smart decisions made for the future of AC Milan, and Devis Vasquez is a player whose future must be decided soon.

In recent years, the Colombian goalkeeper has faced many difficulties. For Milan’s Primavera side, the young goalkeeper has never featured on a regular occasion after arriving 18 months ago, and the case was similar when he moved to Sheffield Wednesday on loan after six months.

Following his return, he was again sent on loan, this time to Ascoli, and whilst he showed positive signs, there is now a question about his future, and how good he can truly be.

Recently, there have been questions about where he would end up this summer, with a departure being the preferred option, and it seemed a move to Spezia could be the preferred option. However, there has been a late swoop by another club.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio (via Milan News), the goalkeeper has become a focus for Empoli, who are ‘close’ to signing the shot-stopper on loan with an agreement to buy. Spezia were the preferred option for the player, but with Torino, and now Empoli lurking, only time will tell.
