Youssouf Fofana is getting closer to becoming AC Milan’s fourth signing of the summer mercato as a deal with AS Monaco is very close, a report claims.
According to the latest update from Gianluca Di Marzio, the Rossoneri raised their offer on Wednesday 14 August and finally got very close to what Monaco are looking for, to the extent that only the final details need to be sorted out.
Geoffrey Moncada and co. raised the bid to €20m plus €5m in bonuses, with some of them easy to achieve and others more difficult. The directors are working out the final points of the deal with the Ligue 1 side, whose stance appears to have softened.
The player already has an agreement with the Rossoneri for a five-year contract (until 2029) and now it is only a matter of time before his transfer to Italy goes from soap opera a reality. The white smoke is expected in the next few hours and the green light for the medical examinations is awaited.
Last season in Ligue 1, Fofana made 32 appearances for Monaco, scoring four goals and providing four assists. He was identified as the No.1 midfield target some months ago, and was part of the France squad at the European Championship in Germany.
Romano said here we go..why slis dimarzo saying hours to go?

Because it’s not official until it’s official, i.e., medicals are complete and all parties have signed on the dotted line. In any case, hopefully he can join the squad early next week and at least be on the bench for matchday 2, and targeting his first start on matchday 3 against Lazio, or at the very least against Venezia on matchday 4, which is after the international break.
Not so fast, he should train with the squad for two – three weeks first and integrate with the play pattern and game system of Fonseca before making a start.
…because DiMarzio doesn’t ever know WTF he’s talking about.
Didn’t start a single match in the euros 24…was a sub not a starter.
And that’s why he’s coming to Milan, same thing happened to Reinjders and now he’s a full time starter… Fofana is really strong and I’m sure he’ll be a french regular in the coming years ( I am pretty sure Deschamps was behind his choice as well)
Fans need to be patient though. Otherwise we end up with another crazy situation if he disappoints.
considering the talent pool france has i doubt fofana will be a starter for the natioanl side again. unless he really, really steps up his game with us.
Not sure what your point is. He plays for a national team that is currently a perennial favorite for any competition they enter behind Real Madrid’s central CM pairing, France legend Kante and Rabiot.
Yes yes, he’s a trash player who is terrible and will be worse than Pobega. Thats the point you’re making right?
Indeed great news
Welcome to ac Milan brother
He comes to us as a more finished product than Kessie was, now he needs to show heart and grit and make that role his own.
That’s fine, and while I think we should have said 20 million firm, I Think they just wanted him already. And Fonseca is asking for him. I Still think we need one more midfielder after this, of course after we release some other players.
Agreed. Being cheap in the transfer market is something we’ve been known for since signing Van Basten. We in Milan don’t want the club to end up bankrupt again. And overpaying for talent is definitely not the thing to do. Happy the deal is done though. People forget we signed Van Basten for 1m, that’s less than what United paid for Steve Bruce and Brian Mclair. So yes if they call us cheap I agree. We are cheap, and it got us 7 champions league titles by being cheap. There’s a reason Rui Costa is still out most expensive signing ever and look who else we had on our books.
And we signed Giroud for around a 1 million, and he definitely produced the goals for us. I’m not saying management is cheap though, but I think their financially wise and want to be clear with spending. CDK was an example of where we did do a panic buy and luckily for us we were able to break even on him (though I think his loan got extended another year).
CDK is a fine example of high price giving zero guarantees.
In the last weeks i often criticized furlani and friends for the way they operate in the transfer market. They take too long and their offers to get players to join milan are often way off. However i admit their tactics seem to have worked well and their 4 signings this summer are great. Well done guys – i greatly under estimated your capabilities. I am impressed.
