Di Marzio: Ilicic an option for Milan to replace Calhanoglu – latest on Tomori and Brahim Diaz

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan still consider Josip Ilicic to be a possible replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu if he were to leave on a free transfer, it is claimed.

Gianluca Di Marzio spoke to Sky Italia (via MilanNews) about the Milan transfer market including renewals and possible targets. He began by stating that as a deputy to Hakan Calhanoglu – or even as Calhanoglu’s heir – the name of Ilicic remains very topical. He is not very young but Milan has shown that they are also willing to sign experienced players. The contacts are there, but it remains to understand the budget available.

Fikayo Tomori must be bought and €28m is needed to sign him on a permanent basis from Chelsea, while Brahim Diaz could be signed permanently for around €20m. Regarding the centre-forward position, it is likely to take an even larger amount to secure an alternative to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
