There is a very real chance that Mike Maignan will miss AC Milan’s first game of 2023 as he struggles to make his return from injury, a report claims.
As has been reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, the French goalkeeper is taking longer to recover from his injury than the club had hoped and it now seems that the first game of 2023 is going to come too soon for Maignan.
January 4 will see Serie A action resume after the break for the 2022 Qatar World Cup and the Rossoneri will be taking on Salernitana at 12:30 CET, making them one of the first teams to take the field.
It was assumed that after suffering an injury shortly before the World Cup and being forced not to go to Qatar with the French squad, Maignan will be recovered in time to play against Salernitana.
That no longer appears to be the case and the club may look to bring Marco Sportiello in from Atalanta sooner than expected.
