AC Milan are close to being able to announce the sale of centre-back Mattia Caldara to newly promoted side Venezia, according to a report.
Caldara was loaned out to Atalanta during the January window in 2020 with the formula of an 18-month loan plus an option to buy, but after an injury-riddled spell La Dea have decided not to exercise that option and therefore Caldara has returned from Bergamo.
According to the latest from Gianluca Di Marzio (via MilanLive), Caldara has accepted the idea of a move to Venezia and although details on the length of the loan spell have yet to be defined, the defender will be in Venice tomorrow to undergo his medical.
Caldara has often suffered from physical and muscular problems in his career which makes his medical important, so Venezia want to remove any doubt about the condition of the defender before announcing his signing from the Rossoneri.
