Di Marzio: Milan miss out on key target as English side close €20m deal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan look set to miss out on the signing of Dennis Praet from Sampdoria as Leicester City are reportedly close to closing a deal.

It is being widely reported that Paolo Maldini, Ricky Massara and the rest of the Milan hierarchy are searching for another midfielder to bolster Marco Giampaolo’s squad.

The Rossoneri were initially linked with Praet in June, when it was claimed that they had in fact secured his signature, however things then went quiet.

Links have resurfaced once again over the past few days, with it even being claimed that Milan would sell Franck Kessie in order to fund a move for the Belgian.

However, it appears that Praet is set for a move to England, as Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Leicester are closing in on a €20m deal for the Beglian.

Praet has a release clause of €26m, but it seems the Foxes will trim €6m off that, with the deal in the ‘closing stages’ and it ‘could be finalised as soon as the next few hours’.

Leicester have already completed the signing of midfielder Youri Tielemans from Monaco for €40m this summer.
