Di Marzio: Milan ready to make fresh attempt for Hertha starlet; Juventus and Barcelona keen

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will make a fresh attempt to sign Hertha Berlin midfielder Lazar Samardzic this summer, according to a report.

Samardzic made his debut in the Bundesliga on Friday night as Hertha beat their city rivals Union Berlin 4-0. The 18-year-old plays as an attacking midfielder, and his exploits are already beginning to attract interest from some top clubs.

According to Gianlucadimarzio.com, Rossoneri technical director Paolo Maldini tried to sign the Germany U19 international in the January transfer window, but could not quite get a deal over the line despite a meeting with the teenager’s entourage.

In all likelihood, Milan will try again in the coming months, but the competition is high as Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona also like Samardzic.

Whether the possible arrival of Ralf Rangnick as Milan’s next manager could be a deciding factor remains to be seen, but his track record of developing young talents in Germany speaks for itself.
