Di Marzio: Milan to work on two more signings after Chukwueze

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s summer transfer window continues at a frantic pace and they will not stop once the signing of Samuel Chukwueze is hopefully confirmed, a report claims.

According to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan are actually looking to close the deal for Chukwueze at below €20m, possibly by inserting a counterpart into the negotiation to lower the cash sum required.

However, the arrival of the Nigerian would not be the last addition made though because the management are also aiming to add another midfielder and they have an eye on the full-back situation too.

A new deputy to Theo Hernandez is sought and the latest idea is that of Riccardo Calafiori of Basel. The 21-year-old previously played for Roma and Genoa, and made 23 league appearances for the Swiss side last season.

Yunus Musah remains the main target for the midfield, but there is no rush and Valencia’s requests are still high at the moment.

On the other hand, the situations around Fode Ballo-Tourè, Ante Rebic and Divock Origi remain to be resolved too.

  1. Good, one more CM/CDM and, if Ballo Toure leave, cheap Italian LB as back up should do it.

If Valencia play hard Ball just give final offer, take it or leave it.
If they still reject better go to another target such as Dominguez. Or try Ricci.

    1. Pioli said he is satisfied with the midfield (Adli as Mezzala?). Perhaps the reason we can buy Chuk + Okafor is because we abandon Musah pursuit.

      1. We only have 5 CM that’s ready to play right now. And Bennacer won’t back before 2024, and probably will take a while to back to peak.

We will only have RLC, Reijnders, Pobega, Krunic and Adli as 3 mid. I still think we need one more CM signed.

But if there’s no new mid, in case of injuries we cam still revert to 4-2-3-1 so only need 2 mid instead of 3… but I still hhink uts a stretch.

        1. The purpose of having 6 players for 3 person-midfield is to safeguard in case of injury. Signing 7th midfielder when one is injured betray that purpose.

Having 5 fit players and 1 injured Bennacer is already enough, the reason there are 5 other players instead of just 2 other is to cover for injured one such as Bennacer. It would be bad if Bennacer return and there are 7 players competing for just 3 position. If Musah come, Adli should leave.

          1. Its projected that bennacer will come back in january, the earliest, then the winter window will be open, if they become crowded then, one will leave, its too risky to kick off the season with 5 for 3 places, an injury/suspension to 1 will leave you exposed for the next game, unless the primavera can offer something for such instances, but the aim is to start with 6 fit ones to cover for injuries during the season, bennacer might not even fully come back anytime soon, his role is demanding, it needs full fitness

          2. No, it is enough. The reason 6 players is needed for 3 positions is because if 1 get a long term injury, the remaining 5 can cover for his absence. We only need to sign 7th player for the position if 2 playes have long term injury. As I have said earlier, if Musah come, Adli should leave.

          3. Furthermore, with Pulisic, Leao, Chuk, Romero, CdK, Saelemaekers, and Messias, it is likely that the plan is to alternate between 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1. Note that they are not excluded like Origi/Rebic.

CdK, Adli, Pulisic, and Romero can play as AM.

  2. for me is backups i guess because pioli said hes satisfied so for i personally want Ian Maatsen that has one yr contract and played well last season and wilfried singo from torino again 1 yr left then a cb and maybe dominguez or ricci

  3. As much as I’m getting excited about our new signings there’s some weird things about our squad that we’re building. If we go 433 then that means either pulisic or Chuky has to sit on the bench, which doesn’t sit right. Seems like 4231 is actually better with pulisic in the hole. Another weird thing is the midfield doesn’t really seem to work, no matter who u put into it. In a three man midfield, our mezzalas are obviously covered (and would be nice to see adli in that rotation) but we have neither a ball winner NOR a regista (krunic does not do well at either of these) to sit in between those mezzalas. And in a 2 man midfield pivot I assume rlc will be playing who despite his size seems more attacking then defensive, none of our numerous options works as his pivot partner, which should obviously be a dedicated dm. Kessie for 15 million and we swallow the bitterness of his departure, u will note, solves all of these issues in one movement

    1. Useless comment.
Are you kessie brother?? huh. Let this guy be and we move on.

If you don’t know what to say just keep quiet and be happy for what we have now.

    2. Its okay when we have strong players on the bench😄, thats how big teams are, everyone will get their chances, u were used to having crap on the bench and thought that is normal, a big team needs atleast 18 starters

  4. Furlani has proven he can buy. i hope he is as stellar at selling. A lot to offload here. And what are they doing about CDK?
