Di Marzio: Milan want to close Kessie’s renewal quickly amid rumours of Liverpool interest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are working to try and resolve the long-term future of Franck Kessie with talks on over his renewal, according to a report.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that work is in progress to strengthen the squad available to Stefano Pioli for next season, both in regards to new signings but also protecting the core of the team by solving some renewal situations.

Franck Kessie’s contract with the Rossoneri will expire in June 2022 so the management are keen to try and lock up the Ivorian midfielder for an extended term. He is currently involved in the Tokyo Olympics with his country but the renewal of Kessie is a priority, given the club’s desire to make him a pillar for the present and for the future.

The Donnarumma and Calhanoglu situations have added urgency to the Kessie talks and Milan want to try and close the issue early, so much so that in the next few days an appointment with George Atangana, the agent of the Milan midfielder, has been scheduled to discuss the ex-Atalanta man.

It comes after il Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) reported this morning that Liverpool want Kessie and are willing to offer him €6m net per season.
