Di Marzio: Milan’s probable XI to face Monza – Bartesaghi tipped for first start

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan want to get back on track in Serie A after their elimination from the Champions League and they will take on Monza in Sunday’s early kick-off.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the most important news in the last few hours for Stefano Pioli is the return of Simon Kjaer. His presence against Monza is not yet certain, but the Dane’s recovery could prove fundamental to help the big emergency in defence.

It isn’t just injuries that are a problem either, because Pioli also has to deal with the suspension of Davide Calabria, sent off in Bergamo against Atalanta last weekend for picking up two yellow cards.

The Rossoneri should remedy this by introducing a Primavera player from the start. Davide Bartesaghi is favoured over Jan-Carlo Simic and he would play on the left side of the defence, leaving Theo Hernandez in the middle.

The rest of the team should have Olivier Giroud as the striker, Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao on the wings, Ruben Loftus-Cheek ahead of Tijjani Reijnders and whoever replaces Yunus Musah who is injured, then Fikayo Tomori, Alessandro Florenzi and Mike Maignan at the back.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Florenzi, Tomori, T. Hernandez, Bartesaghi; Reijnders, Adli/Bennacer; Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Giroud.

  1. In the midfield rejnder should play defensive midfield while benercer play 10 (left midfield) then Loftus cheek play 8 to avoid Acmilan losing this match so that the midfield will not have issues

    1. Mirante,
      Florenzi, tomori, theo, bartesaghi
      Pobega, bennacer, adli,
      Chuk, jovic, okafor

Mike needs a rest, always gets injuries this time of year.
All goes well, simic and kjaer subs for fik and theo
Reijnders needs a rest, RLC can’t play 2 matches a week, Krunic…..no comment
Leao has to rest as does pulisic
Jovic is in form and needs matches

Prediction – Colombo to haunt us 2-2

  2. Reijnders again?? Come on bro, dude’s been playing way too much and his form has been impacted. Our Adli/Bennacer or Bennacer/Krunic to give him a rest.

  3. I think we should see big changes from midweek.

Leao should not start, he is still recovering.
Neither should Giroud and honestly Pulisic could use a rest.
In midfield we have a full roster except for Musah, RLC can’t play every 3 days and reijnders needs a rest.

We should start Simic at CB so all our defenders can play their prefered positions.

    MM
    Florenzi, Simic, Tomori, Theo
    Bennacer(Adli), Krunic, Pobega
    Chucky (Pulisic), Jovic, Okafor

    1. Abate needs Simic in Primavera league like seriously you want Pioli to play Primavera best defender and left Abate with nothing?
