Di Marzio: Pioli gives green light to signing of €18m AZ Alkmaar star

AC Milan’s summer window has already sprung into life as the imminent sale of Sandro Tonali seems to have got a lot of other pieces moving.

Looking at replacements for Tonali, Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Milan are interested in signing Tijjani Reijnders from AZ Alkmaar, the Dutch team that eliminated Lazio in the round of 16 of the most recent UEFA Conference League.

The Rossoneri coach Stefano Pioli has already given his go-ahead for the possible signing of the Dutchman, who plays mostly as a box-to-box midfielder and therefore could occupy multiple roles.

However, AZ Alkmaar are asking for €18m plus bonuses for his transfer and they have already rejected other lower offers from the Premier League and Sporting CP, who offered around €14m plus bonuses.

The 24-year-old Reijnders played mostly in a 4-2-3-1 system for the Eredivisie side, amassing 8 goals and 11 assists last season which helped him win their player of the season award.

    1. Of course he does. They’re all aligned now according to Scaroni. Moncada is working closely with Pioli and Furlani on transfers. Didn’t you know? /s 🤭

  1. Older, higher salary, not Italian, no I ate loyalty to Milan. WTF are Moncada & Furlani thinking? This man untics all the boxes we had with Tonali!!

    1. Because Fratesi + SMS are not DM, they need to buy at least a DM if Tonali leave, so it will be Fratesi + Reindeer.

Or adapt new tactics. Add some creativity to the pitch – which has been lacking since Pirlo left.

        1. Pioli trust the creativity on AM. Transfer market should be dictated by the coach’s system, not the other way around. This is not national team where coach has to adapt to available players because there is no transfer market..

  2. he only scored 4 goals and 7 assist how he can be good player he’s 24 and he costs 8 m player value according to transfermarkt if u guys want tall mid then sign khephren thuram not some random *** names
