Di Marzio: Probable Milan XI to face Torino – Leao back in a 3-4-1-2

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is expected to make a slight change to the 3-5-2 system that he used against Inter for the game against Torino on Friday, a report claims.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio for PazzaDiFanta, the Milan boss shouldn’t completely abandon the 3-5-2 initially seen in Sunday’s match against Inter, but could change it to a 3-4-1-2 with the attacking duo formed by Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud and a playmaker in behind.

While Ismael Bennacer’s condition is improving he is not expected to be back for Friday, so Sandro Tonali and Rade Krunic should be the double pivot behind the playmaker Brahim Diaz.

In defence the only doubt seems to be whether Malick Thiaw or Matteo Gabbia will partner Simon Kjaer and Fikayo Tomori, but the Italian centre-back appears to have a slight advantage at the moment.

Probable Milan XI (3-4-1-2): Tatarusanu; Kalulu, Kjaer, Gabbia; Calabria, Krunic, Tonali, Theo Hernandez, Diaz; Leao, Giroud.

      1. Malik, Salad, Aster, CDK, Origi.

Or, and I know it’s a little bit out there but we have nothing to lose at this point, Malik, Salad, Aster, Adli, CDK.

        1. The good is this, you notice Calabria and Giroud shouldn’t be in Xl, I be been saying this. You suggested something, but Pioli will never try it, Pioli is ready to sink with these ridiculous average players.

        2. Aster gave away our vicotory to Roma. Origi is a foreign object – every ball passed to him is a possession lost.
CDK is a shadow., but yeah might not do worse than Diaz. But at least Diaz is able to have an impactful game once in a blue moon

    1. We only could penetrate Inter’s half once Diaz was on the pitch. Whether we like it or not, he’s the best in his position we have for now.

  1. If we are already playing with wingbacks, then the starter on the right should be Dest, not Calabria, not Saelemakers.
Dest is best suited to play as a wingback.
Up top, I would play Rebic.
Rebic most productive games as a Milan player over the last 4 years have been when he played as a striker, not as a winger.
    My starting lineup, if we are already playing with 3 at the back;
    Vasquez
    Kalulu Thiaw, Gabbia
    Dest, Tonali, Krunic, Theo
    CDK
    Rebic, Leao

    1. I forgot Rebic exists lol. He has been so horrible, he completely slipped my mind.

But yes, Rebic would probably be better than Giro. Though sack of potatoes would be better than Giro at this point.

  2. It’s painful to see that Tata is still first option, instead of Gabbia / Thiaw, Krunic / Wranix, Calabria / Dest.
Calabria must be benched for the rest of the season, Gabbia also, bench Tonali when Benacer is back, send Tata to Mars.

  3. The same system that we used and registered zero shot on target will be used again since Pioli cares about conceding few goals than winning match. After loosing 3 and 4 to Inter and Lazio, Pioli’s remaining option is not to concede many goals.

    Only God will help us

  4. I’d replace Kjaer with Thiaw, give him a shot from the start of a game. An try Salad rather than Calab if we’re playing with wingbacks. Also, CDK over Diaz if we’re going with a 4-3-1-2 style.

  5. You cannot be serious with Calabria! How bad do he and Tonali have to play before they get benched? Special treatment for the Italian players I guess. Put Thiaw in at CB and put Kalulu or dest on the right.

  6. Diaz playmaker? if he his as it claims, i hardly see him feeding front line, just burst in like potato head then get tackled!
I think 4-1-4-1 formation is the best. secure defence line when Calabria/Theo push forward. Krunic box to box. Sala/DK on right, Tonali CAM(he is a real playmaker). Leao left. Giroud/DK. Pioli is not smarting up enough

  7. Apparently everyone in the living world agrees that Calabria shouldn’t be in the team, apart from his boyfriend Pioli.
    Salad or Dest as RWB.
Yes, Giroud needs a break and he doesn’t hold the ball up or manage to find a Milan player either, with his passing so..
    Origi/Rebic CF
    CDK for Diaz
    Thiaw please, not Gabbia

  8. Calabria has been an utter disaster…. How is he still an option? Use Thiaw – so much better with the time he had been given.

  9. Against Totham we better play Kalulu at right back and thiaw and Tomori in the centre and Theo at the left. If maigna makes it in goal we stand a chance, if not we are going to be fucked so hard it will be a public disgrace
