CorSera: Diaz has told Milan he would like to stay with the club next season

By Euan Burns -

Spanish midfielder Brahim Diaz has told Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara that he would like to stay with the Rossoneri next season even though his loan deal is ending, a report claims.

As has been reported by Corriere della Sera (via Milan News), the Real Madrid player does not want to go back to his parent club at the end of this season.

He is currently on a long loan from the La Liga champions but it ends after this campaign, meaning Milan need to buy him outright if he is to stay at the club.

That could be a difficult task for the Rossosneri from a financial standpoint, though. There is limited money in the pot to make transfers and the club could want to direct the money into other areas of the squad.

Diaz is certainly an important player though as he has scored six times this season across Serie A and the Champions League.

  1. I wasn’t Brahim biggest fan nor I am all the way sold out on him, but the kid has improved this season. He rarely gets pushed to the ground like in the past and his good performances have been more frequent.
If they buy him out and we see that he is better on the wing than in the 10 role, the question becomes what do you do with CDK? He isn’t a n10, so you either play him as a 9 ( which I think he is most suited to play) or you gotta get rid of him.
But you can’t spend 20+ mil on Brahim and have 35 mil CDK sitting on the bench, especially when you have so many other needs and not a lot of money to work with

    1. I think you hit the nail on the head from the financial point of view. Ostensibly, Diaz could play on the right and CDK as trequartista, but CDK isn’t playing anywhere near starter level, thus playing them both is courting disaster. Then the question is, will CDK emerge next season? We’re stuck with him for now because there is no way we will not make a loss even with amortization if we move him on this summer.

  2. Maybe leave him in Madrid until 2025 and get him for free then. But yeah that’s risky. May be bought by other clubs ir want to stay in Madrid if he gets enough playing time.

  3. If CDK isn’t improved next season, just sell, loan or send him to primavera team to get reguler playing. And for Diaz will he take wage cut to lower the fee to madrid.

    1. you cant feature players in the primavera any longer that exceeds that age bracket and why would diaz take a wage cut when he currently only earns 1.9 mil a year ?

  4. If ACM dont activated buy option. Real will sell him to EPL club, that will make AC Milan effort 3 years growing brahim wasted. If ACM buy brahim better sell adili & pobega , both never get playtime and ACM can use their transfer fee money to buy brahim

    1. We still need to have homegrown players from our youth ranks in the cl squad that is 21 or above and has been in the club 2 years prior to the age of 21. This means we cant just throw in a few primavera players to sort that out and if the team doesnt live up to certain criterias we will be limited in how many players we can have in the cl squad so selling pobega wouldnt make much sense.

    2. “Real will sell him to EPL club, that will make AC Milan effort 3 years growing brahim wasted.”

He was one of the players who brought us the 19th scudetto. I wouldn’t say it was wasted.

  5. Milan must sign Diaz. No questions about it. He is worth the 20-25m. We have invested too much on grooming him and he will only improve his game because he has shown that he has what it takes to win big games. Juventus, Tottenham and Napoli is proof of that.

As for CDK. Milan should use him as a striker. Get rid of Origi who has a 4m wage for doing absolutely nothing.

Offload Origi, Rebic, Messias, Ballo Toure, Gabbia, Florenzi, Bakayoko, Pobega and Dest. That’s 9 players that are not adding any quality to the team. Ibra needs to retire too but we don’t need to extend his contract. So that’s 10 players we have to replace. 9 of them are dead weight. Smh

We have to get rid of these players this summer. Milan use 433 like we did against Napoli and then to move Adli to a deep lying midfield role. Otherwise, loan him out but I can see him doing well like Pirlo.

    1. Getting rid of all these players with a snap of the fingers is easier on paper than it is in real life. Origi is getting paid 4m and Florenzi is getting 3m, so those will be the toughest, even if we let them go for peanuts. Rebic, Messias, and Ballo Toure are the ones that could make us a little money (or at least break even), but they’re not exactly stars. Dest and Bakayoko are on loan, and Ibra is expiring, so that shouldn’t be a problem. Gabbia and Pobega should stay, since they help us with the UEFA list and as no. 4 options they’re fine.

If the club has balls it would call up Bozzolan and Chaka Traore to backup Theo and Leao, respectively, so we only really need to replace 6 players, of which only 3 need to be starter quality (ST, RW and CM/CDM).

    2. I’d agree with CDK as a No. 9 to challenge Olivier and offloading most of the players above. However, Ante Rebic is a 10+ goal player when he consistently plays both at LW, CAM or ST. Messias is excellent as a back up to Alexis and Brahim on the RW. He also brings versatility as seen in the back 5 with him at RWB. Gabbia,Pobega are perfectly good back ups for now and are young enough to develop and challenge the starters. Plus rotation is key for us competing on 3 fronts, league, coppa and CL. Florenzi can be an excellent squad player if Kalulu or Calabria go down (atleast for the next 2 years). He’s also an amazing RWB from his Roma days when we switch to a Back 5. Origi, Ballo Toure, Bakayoko and Dest must go and we MUST consider our gems in the Primavera for promotion now. They’ve been lighting up the Youth CL and will be poached out if not promoted or loaned out ASAP esp that young italian Kid at LB and Chaka traore at LW/RW. We also need to bring back Nasti and Colombo in the next 2 years max. Meanwhile most funds can go towards renewal and retaining Diaz, a back up striker/ winger, a backup LB and maybe a servicable CAM/CM (Similar to Krunic).

  6. Why??? Why do we always have little to no money for the mercato?? Especially after spending nothing in the last one? Every club that gets a new owner always makes a splash on the market..

    1. We might be in for a little surprise bumper transfer kitty depending on how far we go in the CL and if we finish top 4. We actually have a chance at making the final and if we do we’ll have earned nearly 100m there alone, plus the usual amount for qualifying for next season, I could see us having a budget closer to 80m. But it won’t matter if we make more CDK-like purchases.

  7. We shud just get him and play him and saladmessi on rm, sell messias, and deploy adli and cdk as cam. Renew Leao, and bring back Maldini to deputize him. Sell Rebic, origi, and ballo toure

  8. I wonder if Saladmaker could play as a CAM? With Brahim probably being the best RW we have – maybe Saladonna could do well in the CAM role – just a thought…..
