Dinamo Zagreb boss admits Milan are ‘favourites’ but ‘there is not a drastic difference in quality’

By Oliver Fisher -

Dinamo Zagreb head coach Ante Cacic has admitted that AC Milan will be favourites heading into tomorrow night’s game, but vowed to make it a tough trip.

Milan will make the trip to Croatia to face Dinamo Zagreb in their fifth Champions League group stage game on Tuesday night and Group E is very much wide open after four rounds of action, with no team yet eliminated.

The Rossoneri  were sat atop the group heading into the two meetings against Chelsea, but after losing both games by an aggregate score of 5-0 Milan have now slipped into third spot and need to win against Dinamo Zagreb and Red Bull Salzburg to make absolutely certain of reaching the knockouts.

After Stefano Pioli and Ante Rebic went before him, the Dinamo coach Ante Cacic spoke to the reporters who gathered for his pre-match press conference with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“A big match awaits us, we decide who will stay in Europe. Big because a great team is coming: Milan. I’m happy and proud because another show awaits us. Milan are the favourites, but we want to see growth in Europe. We want to please the fans. We have to give our all. If we can do it and with a dose of sporting luck, we can get the desired result,” he began.

How’s the team doing?

“The situation in the team is good, everyone is available. This is our 26th game this season, and it is a great success that we have so many healthy players.”

What will your team have to do differently from the first meeting?

“We have to be a little braver, more courageous. Be more vertical. We have to be focused for 90 minutes at the minimum. We saw in Milan that we can play against them. The players are aware that there is not a drastic difference in quality and that if we give our best, our chances increase.”

How will you stop Leao?

“We have to do everything to shorten the space for him so as not to use his speed. We have a demanding game ahead of us, I hope for a brave Dinamo.”

You are not the Cinderella of the group…

“Chelsea played in Zagreb, now Milan is coming. We are not a bucket to kick. Something we have all learned, after four rounds everything is open. Everything says that Dinamo are good, I want the players to play with joy and without problems.”
