Feyenoord are trying to keep hold of Santiago Gimenez, however, the timing that they would like to keep him for may have slightly changed in AC Milan’s favour.
This mercato has been one of direction and opportunity. As Zlatan Ibrahimovic revealed this afternoon, the decision to sign Kyle Walker was an opportunity, rather than an objective. However, an attacking signing is a desire.

Gimenez is clearly the main target, as has been heavily reported in recent days, and Milan are trying to work out if a transfer is feasible. Discussions have taken place in recent days, and there is a growing possibility of a move with the Rossoneri making two offers until now.
Furthermore, as added by Matteo Moretto, talks are continuing between the clubs as there seems to be an opening from Feyenoord after all. An ‘Arab club’ has also probed the ground, but the Mexican has given full priority to a move within Europe to make the big leap in his career.
That being said, the Dutch side want to have Gimenez at their disposal for the decisive Champions League clash against Lille on Wednesday. This suggests that they are willing to part ways with their star this window, even if not right now.

Makes sense for Feyenoord to want to have him for the final CL league matchday. Hopefully things accelerate quickly after that so we can get a striker over the line before the window closes.
If Feyenoord don’t sell him after CL game, then it’s better to give up and aim for another player when there is still time , otherwise second part of season will be hard. But in my opinion, Feyenoord don’t sell him because it’s hard to find a good striker in January and they are in similar bad situations like Milan … out of UCL spot for next season for now
They are not gonna win UCL afterall moving for next round is already a winning for that club.
It’s all about opportunity cost. The ‘cost’ of not participating in UCL is so much higher than the cost of this transfer move. Real life case was when Juve bought Vlahovic with enormous amount. They also risked not participating in UCL halfway the season back then (several points behind the 4th place). They decided to take ‘risk’ on Vlahovic move and resulted in UCL spot the next.
Of course, it’s not only up to Vlaho but you shall get the idea. Sometimes in life you should take a big risk to avoid a bigger risk. And we all know we’re desperately need a prolific striker. So we need to shift and see a different angle that this Gimenez thing can be a win win situation for us.
I just heard the offer of AC Milan was 20 million, spread over 4 terms? If that’s true the whole direction should be fired immediately. No market knowledge
You believe everything you read, don’t you.
No I just want to complain about our direction! Let me be
At least complain with something that is a fact/have a high chance being one. Not one complete bs like that.
where were you C..t? so full of praise of the redbird during the summer, kept hiding and now back again “coksuker”
it can be wrong until any prove,
i read that from Mexican news,
same w/ u can’t believe everything the management said cz mostly proven lie
That is good business.. it’s like fratessi / barella move to inter.
David is much better and FREE this summer…
We can have both
But he wants a large salary. He said since he comes on a free he wants that money in his deal.
Latest report says Milan offerd 20 millions in 4 installments for Gimenez🤣
so ambitious & an act of winner just like jeri promise
That is definitely not true, Mexican and Italian outlets are 34 plus bonuses. The team is clearly trying to leverage the fact that he and his dad want the move, his wife is a model so I assume wouldnt mind a move to Milan, and he has an Italian passport.
That said, I dont agree with this approach and if it were me I would give 40 million, plus some insane metrics bonuses and just get it done so he can integrate in the 2nd half of the year and is fully embedded to start 2025 season.
Damn. Embarrassingly I just got messaged from a friend near Amsterdam who said Dutch papers are reporting it was a 20M offer. So maybe we are just flat out a diaster.
It’s true, but it’s only one Dutch paper that’s reporting it, so we have to see if it’s true.
If you can’t get him try other targets for simmilar price like Hojlund, Zirkzee. Or Lucca if you want something cheeper. However doing business only in the last week of the market is another bad management move.
Wrong. The mistakes were in the summer – signing Morata and Abraham. This is trying to fix the mess they made.
American Fool capitalist dream with no money. 20 M in four installments + 10 % future sale. Nowhere near 40 M asked. They don’t respect talented football player. Only money in future sale they are thinking. LoL
Who gives a flying fck whether Milan has offered 20M€ in 20 installments or not. What matters is that when the mercato is closed Milan has strengthened the team. Let’s see if that happens. With or without bogus or accurate rumors.
Let’s correct something though. Milan has already strengthened the team considerably as Walker is A COLOSSAL upgrade over the Brazialian rubbish. But whether we can upgrade our midfield & attack… That is something we’ll have to wait and see.
If Gimenez doesn’t sign and Jovic leaves for Monza then Conceicao has to play Camarda. We have a talented crop of youngsters that aren’t getting enough time. Better to play them than random foreigners.
Well… I’d prefer Camarda already over Morata & Abraham. Why? Because I’m sure Camarda would need less chances than that miserable duo to score. And based on footage I’ve seen, Camarda is far better using his head than 10-15cm taller Abraham!! 😀
Camarda seems to have slipped from the plans.
I would start him every game and bring the ‘missers” on when he gets tired..
Used Google to translate from Italy to English this story by Enrico Ferrazzi:
“After having rejected Milan ‘s first offer of 27 million euros in recent days, in the last few hours Feyenoord has also said no to the second offer from the Rossoneri who have raised the bid to 31 million euros .”
