Donnarumma confirms desire to renew his contract with Milan: “Mino knows what to do”

By Oliver Fisher -

Gianluigi Donnarumma has confirmed his desire to stay at AC Milan for a long time, and said his agent Mino Raiola ‘knows what he has to do’.

The Donnarumma saga feels like it has been ongoing for some time now and up until recent weeks there seems to have been some doubts about whether the 21-year-old would renew with his boyhood club.

However, recent reports have suggested that after ongoing talks with his agent Mino Raiola the two parties are moving closer towards agreeing an extension of his current contract, which is set to expire in June 2021 meaning the management face a race against time.

Donnarumma spoke to DAZN before Sunday’s game against Fiorentina at San Siro, and confirmed his desire to renew with Milan.

When asked if he wants to wear the Milan shirt for a long time, he responded (via MilanNews): “Of course, my agent will discuss it with the club. There is no problem. Mino knows what to do, the club will see. Meanwhile, I want to enjoy this moment.”

He also spoke to Milan TV before the game about the upcoming clash, which would see Milan move five points clear atop the table with a win, at least for the time being before Napoli-Roma later.

“We want to continue our positive streak. We are a great group and that is the most important thing, we have the desire and the awareness that we can continue our positive streak,” he said (via MilanNews).

“The important thing is that when we returned we made ourselves available to the coach. It is not easy to prepare a match after the international break in just two days, but the fundamental thing is that the group is there.

“We know Fiorentina’s strength, we have to give our all if we want to bring the points home. We need everyone to bring this victory home.”
