Dortmund boss Terzic full of praise for Milan: “They combine intensity and technique”

By Oliver Fisher -

Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic was full of compliments for AC Milan ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League group stage clash.

Both Milan and Dortmund are in need of a win to kick start their group stage campaign after the Rossoneri drew 0-0 against Newcastle United at San Siro and the Bundesliga side lost 2-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in their first games.

BVB come into the game having won four of their opening six league games and they seem to have shrugged off the final day title heartbreak of last season well, establishing themselves as early contenders.

Terzic spoke to the reporters who gathered for his pre-match press conference on the eve of the game against Milan, with his comments relayed by PianetaMilan.

Is there a Milan player who stands out to you?

“They have excellent players, they lost two important players, but they made excellent investments. They were all good, as was Pulisic who started well. Leao is dangerous with Theo Hernandez on the left. Even the captain or Florenzi tackle the opponent well.

“They are good and excellent on a technical level. They combine intensity and technique, they are always in a position to win. We have to give a level performance. We have to defend well, but then be ready when the match is intense.”

Was there a lack of courage against PSG?

“It will be a completely different match. We had many thoughts and worries before the PSG game. We changed our mentality to face the match with more courage. We could have exploited some chances better, but we didn’t take them.

“Milan’s way of playing is different, we will have new challenges and we will try to do our best. We did well against PSG, we hope to continue on that path.”

How does the group look to you?

“In the Champions League no match is easy, we understood this already from the draw. Usually 10 points are needed to qualify. This is why it is important to score points tomorrow and the home matches are important.

“Tomorrow Milan will be there, a difficult opponent, but we can face them and the fans will be there to help us. We will give a great performance.”

  1. Honestly, I just want to see a good game. 2 great clubs with great history competing against each other in such a good environment. What more can you ask for, haha. I would have been worried if it was Dortmund of last season, but now without Bellingham I think we can beat them fair and square.
