Doveri appointed as referee of Verona-Milan – the precedents worry Rossoneri fans

By Oliver Fisher -

The AIA has just confirmed the officiating team that will direct the match on Sunday evening in Verona between Hellas and Milan, and Daniele Doveri will again be a protagonist.

Doveri will be assisted by Carbone and Bresmes, fourth official Ayroldi while in the VAR room will be Aureliano and Passeri, as our colleagues at SempreMilan.it report, and the news has been greeted with some concern.

Doveri has refereed 24 Milan matches in the past with 13 Rossoneri wins, 7 draws and 4 defeats. On the other hand, there are 15 precedents with Verona but only two wins for them, plus 4 draws and 9 defeats.

There has already been come controversy involving Doveri this season, such as the first derby of the season when Kessie was penalised for a foul on Calhanoglu resulting in a penalty when if anything it looked to be the other way around.

Then there was the push in the back from Singo on Theo Hernandez in the 0-0 draw against Torino recently which remains fresh in the memory. Also, there is the infamous photo from years ago allegedly showing him with an Inter backpack on.

  1. Adriano’s illicit goal which is almost 1 meter offside and Sule muntari’s Clean goal against juventus plus this season’s Benacer solo goal in our last Derby .., Oooh! These goals and many partialities which Italian referees done against Milan is tormenting me often.
