Dybala praises De Rossi and previews Milan-Roma tie: “We are confident”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Roma will face off against each other in the Europa League quarter-finals with the first leg tonight, and Paulo Dybala gave his thoughts on the eve of the contest.

The occasion itself does not need over-selling, given that it will be two Italian rivals meeting in Europe and there is an American flavour two given the ownerships of the two clubs, plus both sides are in fantastic form too.

Milan come into the game having won each of their last seven matches across all competitions, something that will give the squad plenty of confidence, but Roma too have been in exceptional form since changing coaches.

Speaking alongside head coach Daniele De Rossi at the pre-match press conference last night, Dybala was asked a few questions about the third challenge of the season against Milan. Radio Rossonera relayed his comments.

What is the difference between De Rossi, Allegri and Mourinho?

“De Rossi is starting now, the others have great experience. But seeing how he coaches, what he transmits, what he gives us… He gave us a very high enthusiasm: if he always transmits this desire he has all it takes to reach the levels of Allegri and Mourinho.”

What moment is this for Roma?

“We are confident, it’s a positive moment: winning the derby helps you work with more joy and serenity. Facing a match like this is a good test for us: knowing where we are, how we are playing.”

What does the future hold with you?

“I feel great with De Rossi, some choices [the one regarding the coach] don’t depend on me. We would like to continue with him. For my future we need to talk to the club, see what intentions they have…”

How are you?

“I feel great.”

Everyone has your video after the final defeat against Sevilla in their eyes…

“Losing a final is one of the worst things, almost the worst, that can happen in football. I lost many and won others, but I really wanted to win against Sevilla. The journey had been beautiful, we had arrived there in a great way. That group would remain in the history of Roma. I also lost a Champions League final and I had the same feelings… Then football always gives you revenge.”
