Giornale: Why Elliott Management did not like tweet from Investcorp executive

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s current owners Elliott Management were not thrilled with the Twitter message that came out after Friday night’s win over Genoa, a report claims.

After Milan’s 2-0 win over Genoa last night, the executive chairman of the Bahrain-based fund Investcorp – Mohammed Al Ardhi – congratulated the team on the win via a post on his Twitter account.

“Congratulations to #ACMilan back on top of the italian league. Happy Easter to the club, it’s fans and everyone observing this occasion #SempreMilan,” he said, in what was his first tweet in English for some time.

According to il Giornale (via Calciomercato.com), Elliott did not like the compliments from Al Ardhi to Milan for having regained top spot in the table because of the obvious chain reaction that followed, with some taking it as a confirmation that Investcorp are close to buying the club.

The American fund, according to the paper, did not appreciate the tweet because they believe the approach should be to first sign the contracts and then speak publicly.
