Repubblica: Elliott Management working on the renewal of Paolo Maldini

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s project is bringing results on and off the field and a big part of that is due to the work of Paolo Maldini, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

A meeting that took place yesterday between the Rossoneri management – led by Ivan Gazidis – and UEFA, which brought cautious optimism as well as a tentative belief that they can operate in the summer transfer window without being scrutinised quite as much by Financial Fair Play.

According to this morning’s edition of La Repubblica (via SempreMilan.it), one of the first steps taken by Elliott will be to renew Paolo Maldini’s contract which is currently set to expire in June. It is a foregone conclusion but is will show satisfaction with the current project, just like Pioli’s renewal did.

Maldini currently earns €1.8m gross per season and he should get a pay rise in order to put pen to paper on a contract with Milan for the umpteenth time in his career.
