Emotional Massara spotted in the dugout after Milan’s win over Lazio

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s sporting director Ricky Massara was spotted looking very emotional in the minutes after the win over Lazio last night.

The Rossoneri won in the 92nd minute thanks to Sandro Tonali’s goal and after the match Massara offered an important sign of how active his role is and how attached he is to Milan as a club and as a project, as he took a moment to be with himself and to reflect on the game.

He sat alone in the dugout as the ground staff cleared the field with the cameras picking him up with tears in his eyes. It goes without saying that the Scudetto would mean a lot more, but it serves a reminder of how invested every member of the management are.

Maldini is often the man who takes the praise for his strategy and his decisions in the mercato, but he couldn’t do it without a right-hand man like Massara, who feels the attachment to a similar degree.

  1. Ricky deserves a lot more credit for the work he has done with ( and for ) the team. As a third generation Milan fan seeing footage like this really warms my heart. Forza Ricky!

    1. 100%. But I’m afraid for the future. If this takeover goes through it will propel us into the top 5 richest clubs in the world, but I have a feeling it will mean the end of this project (as we will be making big signings left and right) which in turn would probably mean the end of Massara and Maldini. It’s a weird thing to say, as I think it’s been every Milan fan’s dream to see this club at the top again, but I’m actually downright proud of the work M&M&M have done given the circumstances that I wish to see them at least get this title, if not see this project (as it is) become successful in the next couple of years. Ideally, Investcorp will continue to show faith in them, and give them the resources they need to make the right (as opposed to the biggest) purchases.

      1. Precisely! The work these guys have done with the budget they have is truly immense. I’ve bought into the signings that suit the budget mentality rather than superstar purchases of years gone by…I’m a convert. It just makes sense financially for both the club and football on a whole. My heart goes out to Massara and Maldini. They’ve done an incredible job and would love to see them win the Scudetto

      2. I feel the same. I love this team. I love that we have players who have become stars in Milan and not bought in because they are stars. I hope they continue to take in young players with heart. I feel this teams soul is the most beautiful I’ve seen since I started watching football. It reminds me of my own time playing in youth teams when I was young. We were all friends and the team meant so much to us. I wish this soul can stay in the team even if we get lots of money. Money can never win over spirit.

  2. Honestly tears rolled in my eyes and heart to read things like this for our great club
I know all Milan fans were so happy last night
I remembered in the 90th minute my last son called to ask if we will still win the match and I told him If he believes he will see the goodness of Milan victory
I had his mom saying Milan will score but I have settled down for a draw being satisfied with champions league qualification
But Milan will remain Milan, we are the 11 wise men of football, we are the pride of Italy in the world at 92nd min my phone rang and it was my son again shouting with his brothers and mom up Milan
I thank God for the victory and kudos to all the Milan fans who remained with us when it was rough together we are Milan
I saw a lot of good days and bad days and I know Milan will be great again
I saw our hope dashed against depotivo lacorona after we beat them 4-1 in San-siro only to lose 4-0 in Spain
We all remember instabul with Liverpool
    So we are Milan
    Forza Milan
    Forza Milan fans

  3. For me, this reaction probably means that he will leave come the end of the season and new owners. Regrettably…

  4. Maldini, Masara, and Moncada worked really hard despite they only had limited budget from Elliot. And only just 3 years, they helped Milan got out from the dark era, got back to Champions League, and even became a scudetto contenders (big salute to Pioli and the players too).

The sad thing is there are fans who doesn’t appreciate the management works 🙁

  5. This reaction seems like he knows they will be gone once new owners takeover. It’s really unfortunate given that we finally have a team, including management, that we believe in. How many front offices do you know actually have the fans excited about being responsible and saving money??? They have achieved something special with this team that everyone can be so proud of.

I hope the new owners consider the risk of breaking up this team.
