Empoli 2-1 Milan Primavera: Abate’s side dealt first league loss

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s Primavera side suffered their first defeat of the season in the league on Saturday afternoon as they went down 2-1 against Empoli away from home.

Milan came into the game knowing that they needed a victory to keep pace with Inter at the top of the Primavera table, but they lost to Empoli who climb up to fourth as a result of the win.

The game was ultimately lost in the first half by Ignazio Abate’s side as Fini and Corona both scored for the home side to put them in a commanding position. Liberali netted in the second half to make it an interesting finish but it wasn’t enough.

This is despite a barrage at the end from the Rossoneri, with Cuenca hitting the post just before the ninetieth minute. Milan were unable to find that leveller, and now they move on to a rematch against PSG in the UEFA Youth League next week.
