Empoli 3-1 Milan Primavera: Relegation fears grow after fourth straight loss

Milan Primavera have been firmly dragged into the relegation battle with today’s 3-1 loss against Empoli, which puts them in a dangerous position in the table.

The youth team have lost four games in a row and that resulted in Federico Giunti being sacked earlier in the week, but there was not enough time for the new boss Christian Terni to set up the team as Empoli boosted their survival hopes with a 3-1 victory.

The Rossoneri took the lead in the tenth minute through Gala but the hosts equalised right on the stroke of half-time with Pezzola heading home from a corner. That proved to be the definitive shift in momentum as Degli Innocenti made it 2-1 after 65 minutes and then Magazzu made it 3-1 late on.

Milan will play against Genoa, Napoli, Lecce and Verona and the first game in particular will be crucial because they are only three points behind. There is also the derby against Inter on the horizon which the players will have to get up for. Here is the ranking of the Primavera…

  1. Either all the other Primavera squads are exceptional and we’re looking at a golden generation in Italian football OR we’re massively underperforming given the alleged talent we have in the youth team
