Empoli defender Fabiano Parisi has suggested that he would be a good fit in a system like the one AC Milan play, in particular including the left flank.
Our colleagues at SempreMilan.it reported earlier in the year that current deputy left-back Fode Ballo-Toure has not convinced Milan and that is why Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are already hard at work looking for his replacement.
There were three names mentioned as being on the list of targets in that report: Fabiano Parisi of Empoli, Andrea Cambiaso of Genoa and Aaron Hickey of Bologna. Hickey ended up joining Brentford, and Cambiaso was bought by Juventus (though is on loan at Juventus).
More reports have since emerged linking Milan with Parisi, and he responded to the rumours when he was nterviewed by Tuttomercatoweb, starting with a reflection on the season so far.
“Eleven points in ten games, tenth place, the moment is positive. We have some regrets: against Milan we lost at the last minute on some defensive inattention, against Torino we had bad luck but we are happy,” he said (via SempreMilan.it).
“The target is survival, we are down to earth, we aim for that, we have that goal in mind and then, only then, will we aim for something more.
“More difficult to face Leao or Kwara? They don’t worry me. I have improved in the defensive phase, given the change from midfielder to full-back. I try to improve during the week and these great champions don’t worry me.”
Pioli at Milan has set Theo Hernandez up in a particular way: he enters midfield a lot using Leao on the outside…
“I like it. I was a mezzala, I have no difficulty in entering the field. Leao brings Theo in by attacking the outside but it is not difficult for me: I think I have good quality. We did it against Lecce.”
We need to buy a promising cheap Italian player for this role as it helps our squad numbers a lot. And hey, no matter what whoever it is will be better than Dest or Ballo-Toure so it’s an upgrade regardless.
Agree Zoro. And he obviously wants to be at Milan and doesn’t mind being a backup. A lot of players like Ballo-Toure probably, want to play more minutes and then are upset they aren’t getting minutes on the pitch. Having a young player who is willing to learn from top players at Milan, from Maldini who attends training and gives advice, an Italian player… those are all great reasons to go after him (and he probably wouldn’t be too expensive).
He is very good player. Very tenacious and fiery
Selfishly I would want him to come at Milan and back up Theo.
But for his own development he should probably go to a club like a Lazio, Roma or Fiorentina where he can actually start
