Excellent home form vs. formidable away form: All the key stats ahead of Hellas Verona vs. Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will be looking to return to winning ways on Sunday afternoon against Hellas Verona, but they will have to overcome a crisis to do so.

Stefano Pioli has an emergency to deal with again as Ibrahimovic, Mandzukic and Calhanoglu are all injured while yesterday it was confirmed that Rebic will also not be fit enough to start the game. Not only that, but Theo Hernandez, Tonali and Hauge will not start, while Bennacer and Daniel Maldini are out, so the injury list is back at 9.

Below are the best pre-match stats ahead of the game at the Bentegodi…

➤ In their last 10 league games, Verona have alternated between two defeats, two draws and two wins against Milan – the last two matches against the Rossoneri ended in a draw.

➤ Verona have not drawn any of their last six Serie A games at home against Milan: their last such league draw was in December 2000 (three wins each since).

➤ Verona have earned 38 Serie A points so far this season, picking up after 25 games in the three points for a win era only in the 2013-14 season (39; 40 after 26 games).

➤ Verona have earned 10 points in their last four Serie A home games, while in their previous four they had only picked up one.

➤ In the four previous seasons in which Milan have earned at least 53 points after the opening 25 games of a Serie A campaign in the three points for a win era, they have always ended the season in the top two positions.

➤ Milan have lost only one away league game since last June (W14 D3) – only Manchester United have fewer defeats over the same period in the top five European leagues (W12 D7 L0).

➤ Only Lyon and Paris (19 each) have hit the woodwork more often than Verona (16) and Milan (16) in the top five European leagues this season.

➤ AC Milan have won 16 penalties in Serie A this season – they are close to Lazio’s league record of 18 in 2019-20 (available since Opta started to collect this data in 2004-05).

➤ Verona striker Kevin Lasagna has scored three goals against AC Milan in Serie A, but all three were netted at San Siro.

➤ Franck Kessié is the first AC Milan player to score eight penalty goals in a single Serie A season since Jérémy Ménez in 2014-15; the only Rossoneri player to have netted more penalty goals in a single Serie A season in the three points for a win era is Zlatan Ibrahimovic (10 in 2011-12).
