The Feyenoord head coach has responded to the speculation about Santiago Gimenez leaving, and he certainly didn’t rule out a potential move.
As Calciomercato.com report, Gimenez remains the number one target for Milan before the January window closes but the directors have not yet satisfied Feyenoord’s financial demands.
The Dutch club do not want to lose the Mexican striker in January and will in any case wait for tonight’s Champions League match, but they have set a base price of €40m, plus €3-4m in bonuses.
What that means is they have not closed the door fully to a sale, and a new bid is expected from the Rossoneri, but in the meantime some indication has come from Feyenoord coach Brian Priske.
“I have seen a lot of movement around Santi in recent days. He is a professional, this type of rumour exists in football but we aim to stay focused on our objectives. If something like this happens, in football you have to focus and work,” he said.
The next few hours will therefore be decisive regarding the success of the operation. Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani is working with the help of Rafaele Pimenta to raise the last offer of €27m plus a 10% resale clause.
As a reminder, the 23-year-old striker did a podcast appearance in which he admitted to being ‘wowed’ when he learned of the interest from Milan.
“””Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani is working with the help of Rafaele Pimenta to raise the last offer of €27m plus a 10% resale clause.”””
Is this a joke??? 27m for a 40m valuation??? This is a slap to their face considering they rejected 31mil…. I hope they don’t sell to us… this management is a joke…. they’re always looking for the best bargain.. instead of looking for the best quality, I won’t be surprised if they spring up one crappy signing once they fail to sign Santi by Feb 3rd
Considering it seems like we have been lowballing the Dutch team and before people goes nuts and starts arguing that Gimenez isn’t worth what Feyenoord demands then I would like to see peoples reaction if Barca or some other team comes knocking on our door and offers us 35-40 mil + 10% resale for example Leao’s services. Most people would be livid and feel insulted by such an approach.
I think our lowball approach might impact relations with several clubs but given the consistency of the links I’m hoping it’s because we have found some inside information, eg Gimenez has a “gentleman’s agreement” to leave this window and feyenoord might be asking for 40mn but they have privately indicated they’d accept lower.
If not, then yes I agree how we’re conducting business is downright disrespectful.
Well I’m always for us getting the best deals as possible but if the rumors of us initially offering 20 mil then its simply no way around that it would be an insult considering That Feyenoord apparently rejected a 33 mil off in the summer from Nottingham Forrest but we can obviously hope for the best in what you are suggesting but I really see no reason for them to drop their demands so excessively. Yeah I can imagine next time we come around a club like this or Monaco they will just put up some extra hurdles in the negotiations or simply shut the door in our faces. I certainly wouldn’t accept to be lowballed if I were them as the player represents a certain value for them.
Agree buddy. I do often wonder if we low ball to give the illusion that we are ‘serious’ when in reality we aren’t…
Drew that thought has actually striked me as well.
Management…. Oh we tried our best yada yada yada but we couldn’t make an agreement as they had excessive demands but as we are a serious club we at least made an attempt … 😀
That’s exactly it mate
😀 Thought I got the gist of it
i Used Google to translate this story by Enrico Ferrazzi from Italy to English :
“After having rejected Milan ‘s first offer of 27 million euros in recent days, in the last few hours Feyenoord has also said no to the second offer from the Rossoneri who have raised the bid to 31 million euros .”
So… Depends on the source what the rumored offers are / have been.
The scrappy signing will be
Name: jaguineskala
Age: 34yrs old
Club: kalambuskaspor
Country: kasaluumbòl
Time: 2hrs to the deadline
For all those people saying Giminez is not worth the money because he plays in Dutch League; Napoli paid 70M euros for Osimhen from Lille – Not sure Ligue Un is much better…
Furlani has raised his offer to a free tour of the San Siro, a packet of crisps (any flavour), any loose change they find on the terraces and two items from the lost and found box.
😂
Furlani is such a rat, what a fraud and a joke.
Every schmuck knows that you pay more in January for a player for the very reasons Feyenoord have laid out….plus they need to find a replacement. Selling clubs also know that most January signings are because the buying clubs are in some way desperate. IMO in the cirrrnt market, given its January, I don’t think 40m is a lot for Gimenez. It’s probably stupid Gerry slapping his fat fingers into his computer and getting some BS algorithm where ‘computer says no!’
The alternative, as Gre-No-Li so eloquently put in another thread is that you end up with Morata and Abraham based on analytics neither of whom are fit for purpose and don’t even make one capable striker when you combine them!!!
no creativity on transfer strategy from furlani whatsoever.. while there are so many kind of strategy to offer i.e bigger sum but spread the fee, bonus based on performances, adding some young player to feyenoord (it can be a loan or permanent, I would offer camarda as a loaned player as it would benefit him and Milan in the future).. alas he can only offer a 10% future transfer fee?!
Kalau Si AMERIKA masih berkuasa,Pemain yang di inginkan Oleh Conceicao tidak akan terwujud. Sudah Saatnya PEMILIK MILAN DAN SEMUA DIREKSINYA JUGA HARUS GANTI.
