Dusan Vlahovic will not be part of the Juventus team to face AC Milan on Saturday, and Thiago Motta has five alternatives to the Serbian striker.
Reports suggested earlier this afternoon that Vlahovic was to undergo scans on his thigh after suffering an injury for Serbia last night, and the results are now back. According to Calciomercato.com, the striker will miss the fixture against Milan, and he could even miss the game against Aston Villa in the Champions League.
With this in mind, a later report from CM has listed the alternate options that Motta must consider before kick-off.
The first three options involve using Kenan Yildiz, Tim Weah or Samuel Mbangula, as a striker. With the first two options both playing minutes as a No.9 previously, they were slightly limited. Alternatively, Mbangula could be the solution to the absence of a ‘true’ striker.
Interestingly, there are suggestions that Teun Koopmeiners could be named as a false nine, given he sporadically played in the role for Atalanta, and with Juventus’ wingers, it could be possible to replicate this formula.
Finally, the most suitable alternative would be Nicolas Gonzalez, however, a start from the first minute is heavily unlikely given he has spent so long on the sidelies.
Great news in my opinion
