AC Milan surprised almost everyone with their Scudetto win this past season and they will be looking to defend the title this upcoming campaign. Their former player, Mathieu Flamini, has shared his thoughts on the success.
Flamini played for Milan between 2008 and 2013 and he was obviously part of the team that won the Scudetto in 2021/2011. He knows a thing or two about lifting the trophy, therefore, and he was interviewed by Corriere Dello Sport recently.
He was asked about the Rossoneri’s Scudetto win this past season, revealing that he’s very proud of what this team managed to accomplish. He also named what he believes – and many others – was the key for Stefano Pioli’s side.
“I’m very proud of this Scudetto. The mix of young and experienced players like Ibrahimovic and Giroud was the winning key. Eleven years without a title for a club like Milan is too long. Zlatan? He has technical and mental qualities. I chose Milan because of Ancelotti. He’s a great man, he has won everything, everywhere, and always protects his players. He will always be a gentleman,” he stated (via SempreMilan.it).
It remains to be seen if Milan can replicate the successful season and win it again in 2022/23. As the rivals are eager to catch up, it won’t be easy for the Rossoneri and some reinforcements will be needed.
