There have been some whispers that Malick Thiaw is closing in on being called-up for the German national team, but a report claims that will not happen this month.
La Repubblica (via MilanNews) recall that Thiaw arrived at Milan from Schalke 04 last summer for €5m plus €2m bonuses and struggled a lot to establish himself at first but since Stefano Pioli switched to a three-man defence he has been basically undroppable.
So far Thiaw has played 10 matches in Serie A and two in the Champions League for a total of 773 minutes on the pitch, with his most impressive games being in the Champions League round of 16 against Tottenham.
He is the captain of the German U21 national team and there have been suggestions that Hansi Flick would call him up for the senior team for their friendlies against Peru (Saturday 25 March in Mainz) and Belgium (Tuesday 28 March in Köln).
However, the paper claims that Flick has decided not to summon Thiaw because he considers him to still be ‘too immature’, with Armel Bella-Kotchap of Southampton – the bottom side in the Premier League – preferred.
After last night i wouldnt call him either 😀
Playing 1044 minutes wont get you into the national setup.
excelente, que lo deje por ahora en paz, para que vaya adquiriendo experiencia y no que por cometer algún error lo elimine a futuro…
But comparing Thiaw with a player from club from bottom of the league with minus of goal difference…?? 👎👎👎👎
Not calling up UCL players first team players. Coach nowdays are delusional with england football
