Alessandro Florenzi has claimed that Sandro Tonali is more like his former team-mate at Roma than his AC Milan idol Gennaro Gattuso.
Milan did what many thought was unachievable at the start of the season as they overcame fierce competition from city rivals Inter as well as Napoli and even Juventus to capture the 19th Scudetto in the club’s history.
Although on paper the Rossoneri’s squad might not have boasted huge names and expensive signings like others, the right cohesion was found between a young group ready to play without fear and veterans who know how to channel things in the right way.
Florenzi spoke to DAZN to reflect on Milan’s Scudetto win, stressing the importance of having experienced players like himself in the camp in order to find the right balance.
“We more experienced players have heard the last game more than the younger ones who perhaps have not yet understood what we did. We always had an important balance. Against Atalanta we never thought of drawing, we played just to win,” he said (via MilanNews).
One player who had a big hand in the title win is Sandro Tonali, who is a team-mate of Florenzi’s with the Italian national team too, but he believes the midfielder is more like his old team-mate at Roma.
“I see him more similar to De Rossi than to his idol Gattuso,” he said.
