AC Milan rarely make it through a game without sustaining an injury and today was no exception, with Alessandro Florenzi going off in the first half of today’s win over Empoli.
There was a worrying moment a few minutes after Milan’s second goal when Florenzi pulled up gingerly having felt a tweak in his thigh, and he came off without assistance and with the Real Madrid loanee Alex Jimenez replacing him.

Given that Florenzi had started the game at left-back due to the fact Theo Hernandez was playing centre-back amid an injury crisis in the defensive department, losing the Italian for an extended period would certainly not be good news.
Peppe Di Stefano spoke on Sky (via MilanNews) and reported that he came off as a precaution due to a slight pain in his adductor and reassured everyone on the bench about his condition. In any case, more precise details will arrive in the next few hours.
Head coach Stefano Pioli spoke to Milan TV after the game and he gave an update on Florenzi’s condition, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
“Florenzi had some discomfort in his adductor, but he says he stopped in time,” he said.
It must be noted that Jimenez came off the bench and did well just as he did during his start against Cagliari in the Coppa Italia in midweek. He nearly had a big hand in a goal as well, after a surging run down the middle that ended with Loftus-Cheek shooting wide.
