Florenzi praises Milan fans for ‘Champions League’ atmosphere and reflects on his role

By Isak Möller -

Alessandro Florenzi played an important role in AC Milan’s 3-0 win against Stade Rennes tonight as he assisted the first goal. Afterwards, when speaking to the media, the veteran also made sure to praise the Rossoneri fans.

Florenzi did well throughout the game and the assist was another great example of his qualities, finding Ruben Loftus-Cheek with a great cross. As a result, he also got a good score in our player ratings for the game.

Speaking to Sky Italia after the clash, as cited by MilanNews, Florenzi shared his thoughts on the San Siro atmosphere and the assist for RLC. He was also asked about the national team and potentially getting a call-up for the Euros in the summer.

On the win…

“We played a proper match. The atmosphere felt like we were in the Champions League. We could have scored another goal, but got ourselves a good advantage ahead of the return leg. We must play like it is 0-0 there, though.”

On the assist for Loftus-Cheek…

“I’m enjoying it, but then the important thing is to score goals, regardless of who scores the goals and assists.”

On his work in the build-up phase…

“There are many of us in the team who know how to play football. With Loftus and Pulisic, we created numerical superiority on the wing.”

On the national team…

“I’m focused on doing the best for Milan. The national team is always in my mind, but I have to deserve it on the pitch. Everyone knows how important it is for me. It can be an objective, I work in silence for Milan and for the Azzurri.”

Milan will take on Monza next and Florenzi will most likely start again, as Davide Calabria is recovering from an injury. Filippo Terracciano could also be an option, of course, but Stefano Pioli will likely opt for experience.
