Alessandro Florenzi has returned from his injury and made his comeback appearance two weeks ago. His playing time is expected to increase and ahead of the Napoli clash, he spoke to the club’s channel.
The veteran full-back suffered a hamstring injury at the very start of the season and only returned earlier in the month. His playing time will surely increase, as mentioned, and his experience will be needed for the upcoming clashes against Napoli.
Speaking to MilanTV (see the video below), Florenzi discusses his return and what it has been like for Milan this season. He also shared his thoughts on the clashes against Napoli.
On his return…
“It was hard work. I had so much hunger to come back and help the team. We want to approach the coming months with great courage and determination, trying to move forward in all of our remaining competitions.
On post-Scudetto effect…
“The truth is that you always have to forget what came before. The most important thing is always what happens next. That’s how it is for us right now. We need to think that the next few months will shape our future.
On the Champions League…
“We want to qualify for next season’s Champions League, we also have a big aim ahead of us which is playing in the quarter-final. If you only think about one thing, I don’t think it ever comes. We just need to take it game by game. Serie A is our route to the UCL. There’s another route that would be a bonus.”
On being champions…
“Our opponents have given everything, which is only right, but I still think we are the ones that ‘decide’ a game because of how we are physically, mentally and technically. We’ve had a couple of unwanted results, but they have helped us understand our league. The draw against Salernitana was like a defeat to me.”
On Napoli…
“I think that it (the reverse fixture) waso n. I was speaking about this with a few of my teammates the other day. Maybe that should be the starting point for the three upcoming games, which will be massive for us and our future.”
On the fans…
“Good support will be really important. We will need them, that’s for sure. But I have no doubts about that, because since the start of the year and last season too, they have given us their full backing.”
